MediaTek is going to announce a 4nm mobile processor later in 2021

MediaTek is going to build a 4nm mobile chipset later this year. According to two different Chinese sources, MediaTek is going to be the first company that will offer a 4nm mobile processor. We expect that the mass production of the 4nm chipset will begin in Q4 2021 or Q1 2022, reported by the famous Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station- yesterday.

Meantime, another Chinese website opened the story with more details. They said that MediaTek has already got contracts to supply the next-gen chipset to Vivo, Xiaomi, and Oppo.

MediaTek is going to release their 4nm mobile processor later in 2021 or at the first or 2022. MediaTek’s most special SoC – the Dimensity 1000 series – is getting built on 6nm technology and according to the supply chain references, the technology will jump to 4 nm and will come with a large financial cost.

The new 4nm MediaTek chip’s price will be like a flagship…..

The price of the new 4nm flagship chip- will start from $80. It is almost three times expensive than the regular unit price of current MediaTek processors ($30 to $35).

That means the chip will most likely go to be an upper-level chip, which means- that MediaTek is planning to give Qualcomm a run for its high budget flagship segment.

The Digital Chat Station thinks that the new 4nm MediaTek SoC- would rival the Snapdragon 8xx chip family. But it is still early days, so we have to wait until at least the end of 2021 to see what happens later.

Of course, healthy competition is always a good thing for the industry. And it will be delightful to see MediaTek is joining the next level fight between Apple’s Bionic, Snapdragon, Exynos and Hisilicon Kirin mobile processors.
